Mysore/Mysuru: Leaders from the Christian community have urged the State Government to set up Christian Development Corporation, which was announced in the previous budget.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan on Tuesday, community leader William D’Souza expressed displeasure over State Government cancelling the setting up of Christian Development Corporation, which was announced in the previous budget by earmarking Rs. 200 crore grants for the same.
“There are 30 lakh Christians in the State. Setting up of a separate Christian Development Corporation would help thousands of poor people of the community. We would like to urge Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to look into this matter immediately and set up Christian Development Corporation as promised earlier,” he said.
Federation of Mysore Christian Associations Convenor S.M. Arokyadas, community leaders James Christopher, Samson George, Jason Andus and Donald were present at the press meet.
