Mysore/Mysuru: City’s Additional District and Sessions Judge FTSC-I (Special Court for trial of cases filed under POCSO Act) has sentenced a man to 20 years jail term after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor girl resulting in the minor giving birth to a baby.
The accused, who was sentenced is Gurumurthy, residing in Yelwal Police limits.
In March 2023, the man after observing that the girl was alone in the house, sexually assaulted her resulting in the girl getting pregnant and giving birth to a baby on Jan. 5, 2024 at a private hospital in Mysuru.
The then Yelwal Inspector Shivananja Shetty, who had registered a case, had submitted a charge sheet to the Court. Judge Anand P. Hogade, who took up the case, found Gurumurthy guilty and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.
The Judge also ordered the fine amount be given to the victim and the victim was eligible for a compensation of Rs. 6 lakh. Public Prosecutor K.B. Jayanthi argued on behalf of the Government.
