‘Shaala Ratna’ award conferred on teachers

Mahesh, Jayamary and Shivamma, who were presented with ‘Shaala Ratna’ awards during Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations by Government Girls High School, Cauvery Balaga and Hiranmayi Pratishtana at the School premises in city on Nov.24, are seen with artist Dr. Jamuna Rani Mirle, Scholar N.K. Mysuru: Government Girls High School, Cauvery Balaga and Hiranmayi Pratishtana together had organised a function at the School premises in N.R. Mohalla here on Nov.24 as part of Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations which featured felicitation to achievers in teaching.

Inaugurating the programme, writer Bannur K. Raju opined that a student can reach the set goal if the scholastic expectations are met satisfying the teacher. He said that Guru is a divine term who can replace the darkness of ignorance in a student by the light of knowledge. He contended that a student can surpass the Guru in knowledge eventually through hard work to win the appreciation and laurels of the latter.

Block Resource Person Vachana Kumaraswamy opined that Kannada is still prevalent, thanks to students of Government Schools. He spoke on Vachanas of Basavanna and Allama Prabhu.
