Sham-e-Ghazal musical evening and felicitation

Mysore/Mysuru: Faizan-e-Urdu Adab had organised Sham-e-Ghazal, a live musical  evening yesterday at Bazm-e-Batul in N.R. Mohalla here.

The programme began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Moulana Muzammil Khan followed by Nath-e-Shariff by Urdu poet Mirza Abbas Ali.

N.R. Constituency MLA Tanveer Sait inaugurated the Ghazal programme by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion, Tanveer Sait said that Urdu language is not only spoken by Muslims but also spoken and understood by non-Muslims.

Since not many people are practicing Urdu regularly, we should teach this language to our young generation, he opined.

Later, the MLA felicitated Prof. Syeda Nilufar Nayab, President of Bazm-e-Batul, who is also a senior poet and Urdu writer.

Faizan-e-Urdu Adab President Momina Mukhtar welcomed and compered. Hakeem Sayeed proposed a vote of thanks. Later, various super hit  ghazals of yesteryears and old hit songs were presented by Rumana Ahmed, famous singer from Hyderabad, Nasir Khan from Ramanagara and Shahid Ahmed from Mysuru. The singers enthralled the audience for nearly 4 hours.

Dr. Abdul Ravoof, President, Muslim Co-operative Bank Limited, S. Moinuddin Pasha, President, UMCC Ltd., Rahmath Ulla Shariff, Director, Muslim Co-operative Bank Limited, Faizan-e-Urdu Adab Secretary Dr. Surraiya Tarannum, Ex-Chairman of Mysuru District Wakf Advisory Committee Arif A. Mehkri were on the dais.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof. Muzaffar H. Assadi, Secretary of Al-Kabir School Reshma Samiulla, Social worker Md. Mumtaz Ahmed, Vice-President of Muslim Co-operative Bank A. Saleem Ahmed,  Bank Director Md. Abdus Salaam and Prof. Nabi Jaan  were among the large number of audience. Prof. Muzaffar H. Assadi and his wife were also felicitated by the organisers during  the event.
