A two-day tennis ball cricket tournament organised jointly by Mysuru District and City Brahmana Sangha and District Brahmana Yuva Vedike commenced this morning at the Coffee Board Grounds in Gangothri here.
Totally, 22 teams of Brahmin youths from 15 districts are participating in the ‘Shankara Cup’ tournament named after Sri Shankaracharya. Last year, it was named ‘Ramanuja Cup’ after Sri Ramanujacharya. The finals will be played tomorrow.
Sangha President D.T. Prakash inaugurated the tournament by wielding the bat. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the tourney was aimed at coordinating the community youth.
Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath and former MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohankumar were the chief guests. Corporators M.V. Ramprasad, M.C. Ramesh and others were present.
