Mysuru: Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya has said that Shankaracharya was the first among the Acharya-trio who spread the Country’s Sanatana culture to the entire world.
He was speaking at the Shankaracharya Jayanti celebration, organized by the Mysore Palace Board at its office here yesterday.
Pointing out that Shankaracharya rejuvenated Sanatana Hindu Dharma, which was battered by attacks from other sects, he said that Shankaracharya must be credited for uniting Hindus.
Stating that Shankaracharya toured the entire Country and succeeded in propagating Hindu culture and values, Subramanya said that Shankaracharya established Peethas in all four corners of the Country —Sringeri Sharada Peetha in the South, Jyotirmath in the North, Puri Govardhan Peetha in the East and Dwaraka Peetha in the West.
Maintaining that Shankaracharya popularised Adwaitha philosophy in the Country, he said that Shankaracharya propagated Bhagavad Gita, Upanishad and Brahmasutra. He further said that Shankaracharya’s Bhaja Govindam Stotra became very popular among the people.
