Mysuru: A CD on Sharana Vachanas titled ‘Vachana Sanjeevini’ was released at a programme organised under the aegis of Sri Jagajyoti Basaveshwara Akkamahadevi Seva Pratishtana at Kalamandira on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, former Principal of St. Philomena’s College and humorist Prof. M. Krishnegowda said that Sharana Vachanas will philosophically enrich our minds.
Pointing out that Sharanas have made great efforts to project Kannada’s richness in Vachanas, he said that reading Vachanas will help us a lot in our daily life.
Stating that philosophers had to resort to Sanskrit for words before the advent of Vachana literature, Prof. Krishnegowda said that Sharanas have very effectively portrayed Vachanas lucidly in Kannada, which itself explains the supremacy and capacity of Kannada language.
Theatre activist Raghu Vijaya Kasturi’s work titled ‘Kannada Bavuta’ was also released on the occasion.
Noted Music Director Praveen D. Rao, renowned painter K.N. Shankarappa and other eminent personalities from various fields were felicitated on the occasion.
Pandomatti Virakta Mutt Seer Gurubasava Swamiji and Annadaneshwar Mutt Seer graced the occasion.
Pratishtana Founder-President H.M. Akkamahadevi, Dr. T.N. Satyanrayana Rao, Dr. N.M. Shyamasundar, Sugama Sangeetha singer David and others were present.
