Mysore/Mysuru: Champaka Educational and Cultural Trust, Mysuru, has embarked on an ambitious initiative to conduct monthly cultural events to showcase Indian performing arts under the banner ‘Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava.’
The Shravana edition in this series will be held on Sept. 2 at 4.30 pm at Champaka Academy premises in Ramakrishnanagar by nationally and internationally renowned artistes.
This edition includes Bharatanatyam and Kathak performances by internationally acclaimed Guru Natya Saraswati Shubha Dhananjaya from Bengaluru, Founder and Director of Natyantharanga Karana and her disciples.
Trained under Guru Vidushi Srilakshmi Kumar, Director of Sri Uma Maheshwara Nritya Kalakshetra, which is one of the oldest dance institutes in Mysuru, her disciples will present a Bharatanatyam performance.
Vidushi Nagalakshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy, will present a live performance ‘Darpadalanam – Kulavichaarah’ based on an extract from the poem composed by Mahakavi Kshemendra of Kashmir. The feature has the music composition by Vidushi Chethana Nagaraj of Bengaluru with the ensemble including Vidushi Shruthi Prasad (vocal), Vidwan Vikram Bharadwaj (mridanga) and K.P. Pranav (flute).
KSN Prasad, Hon. Secretary of Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, will be the chief guest for the event.
