Siddharamaiah to fete newly-elected GP members tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Claiming that Congress-backed candidates had won a majority of seats in the Gram Panchayat (GP) polls in the district, senior Congress leader K. Marigowda said that newly elected GP members from Chamundeshwari and Varuna Assembly segments will be felicitated at the  programmes to be held at two different venues in the city tomorrow (Jan.13), which will be inaugurated by Opposition Leader and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.

Announcing this at a press meet at Congress Bhavan yesterday, Marigowda said that the programme to felicitate GP members from Varuna Assembly segment will take place at 11 am tomorrow (Jan.13) at Rajendra Kalamandira on Ramanuja road and the programme in Chamundeshwari segment will be held at Ashwini Kalyana Mantapa in Srirampura at 3 pm the same day. 

Former Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, former MP R. Dhruvanarayan, Varuna MLA Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah, former MLA K. Venkatesh and a host of other top Congress leaders will attend the programme.

Expressing confidence that Congress backed candidates will gain control of 11 out of the 14 GPs in Chamundeshwari segment, Marigowda said that likewise, the party backed candidates is expected to win most of the 31 GPs in Varuna segment.

Pointing out that the Congress is backing the indefinite stir launched by Farmer Unions at the Delhi, Marigowda  said that a national seminar on  adverse effects of new Farm Laws will be held in Mysuru shortly.
