Siddharameshwara Jayanti: Netas skip celebrations

Mysuru: The Siddharameshwara Jayanti celebrations, jointly organised by the District Administration, Kannada and Culture Department and Shivayogi Siddharameshwara Bhovi Hitarakshana Samiti at Kalamandira here this morning, was a lacklustre affair, with none of the netas attending the event.

Bhovi Development Corporation Director G.V. Seetaram inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion, veteran scholar Prof. H.M. Vasanthkumar who was the chief guest, said it was important for every human being to study and analyse the preachings of Vachanakaras and adopt at least some of them in their daily life.

Pointing out that Saints like Siddharameshwara sacrificed everything for human cause, she noted that success can be achieved by following the preachings of Vachanakaras.

Regretting that social evils are haunting the country even after 70 years of Independence, she said that the preachings of Vachanakaras will be of great help in building a better society.

Explaining the contribution of Siddharameshwara for the well-being of the society, she underlined the need for a casteless society.

Tahsildar Ramesh Babu, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa, Bhovi Samaja leaders G. Nagaraj, P. Mallaiah, Basavaraj, Rangaswamy and others were present.
