Mysuru: Silk India 2017, an exhibition- cum-sale of pure silk products from across the country organised by Hastashilpa, began at Hotel Southern Star on Vinoba road here yesterday.
The silk expo is open for five days daily till July 9 from 10.30am to 8.30pm with free entry.
The expo was inaugurated by MLA and Chairman of Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation M.K. Somashekar.
About 60 organisations from 18 States have opened stalls in the expo exhibiting silk in four varieties to suit the weather conditions. Hastashilpa has arranged the expo to establish direct contact between the weavers and customers thus avoiding middle men.
Up for grab at the expo are organic Tassar silk sarees, stoles, printed, designer, chiffon and fancy silk sarees, designer dress materials, shawls, suit and many more. Also on display are ready-made dresses, cushion covers, bedsheets, show jewellery and Punjabi footwear.
Speaking on the occasion, Somashekar said that the expo exhibits attractive and durable silk products at competitive rates brought from various parts of the country.
