Silk India-2018 expo begins

MP Pratap Simha, who inaugurated ‘Silk India-2018' Expo at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in city yesterday, is seen taking a look at a saree on display-cum-sale

Mysuru: Mysuru and Kodagu MP Pratap Simha inaugurated the six-day ‘Silk India 2018’ expo organised by Hastashilpi at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry here yesterday.

Speaking after inaugurating the expo, he said that silk sarees from different parts of the country are on display. The sarees which cost anywhere between Rs.80,000 to 90,000 is available in the expo at Rs.30,000 to 40,000 which means almost half the price available in the shops.

Mysuru Silk has gained world-wide recognition. But along with this, other types of silk sarees are also available for the people to choose from, he added.

There are about 50 shops displaying various types of silk sarees. The expo is open till July 16 from 10.30 am to 8.30 pm.

Deputy Mayor Indira Mahesh, former Deputy Mayor Vanita Prasanna, Corporator Ashwini, Hastashilpi Organiser T. Abhinandan and others were present.

The silk sarees from Kashmir to Kanyakumari ranging from Rs.1,800 to Rs.1.30 lakh are on display and sale.
