Silk India expo inaugurated

Sandalwood actress M.J. Bhavya, who inaugurated the Silk India-2025 expo at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road in city yesterday, is seen taking a look at a saree on display.

Mysuru: Sandalwood actress M.J. Bhavya inaugurated Silk India -2025, an exhibition-and-sale of pure silk sarees and dress materials, organised on the occasion of Deepavali at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road in city yesterday.

Over 77 weavers from 19 States have put up 55 stalls offering a diverse range of varieties that cater to both domestic and international demand.

Among the most prominent types are Mulberry, Tussar, Eri and Muga, each cultivated under specific climatic and geographic conditions. Notably, Tussar and Muga are wild silks produced by silkworms that feed on organically grown trees, primarily in the States of Bihar, Assam and Chhattisgarh.

Arini Silk Sarees, Crepe & Georgette Silk Sarees, Chiffon Silk Sarees, Tussar Silk and Suits, Kanjeevaram Silk Sarees and Wedding Sarees, Designer Fancy Sarees, Dharmavaram Silk, Raw Silk, Jute Silk Sarees, Dhaka Silk Sarees, Handloom Silk Cotton Sarees, Silk Blends Sarees & Stole, Silk Shawls, Uppada, Gadwal, Paithani Sarees, Mangalagiri and Pochampally Silk Sarees from across the country are also on sale.

The expo is open for public from 10.30 am to 8.30 pm  till Oct. 15.
