Mysuru: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru, has organised yakshagana ‘Sita Parityaga’ by Sri Mahaganapathi Yakshagana Mandali, Nidle, at its premises in Vijayanagar on Sept. 29 at 6pm.
The programme will be inaugurated by chief guest Dr. K. Gopal Marate, Department of Studies in Bio-Chemistry, University of Mysore. Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy, Chairman, BVB, Mysuru, will preside.
About Sita Parityaga
Lord Sri Rama after having killed Ravana brings Sita back to Ayodhya. Later, he is crowned King of Ayodhya after which everyone lived happily. However, an incident changed the entire scenario. It so happened that a dhobi rejected to take back his wife as she had not informed prior to visiting her native. He was heard stating that he was not King Rama to accept his wife back despite being in Ravana’s captivity for many days.
On receiving information from one of his informers, Lord Rama decides to separate from his wife and orders her banishment. He orders Lakshmana, his younger brother, to leave Sita in the forest.
Later, it was Saint Valmiki who took care of Sita, who was pregnant with Lava and Kusha. After a few days, Sita gives birth to twin boys. As the days went by both brothers mastered all Vedas and all skills required by Kshatriya Princes.
A few years later, Sri Rama decides to conduct Ashwamedha Yagna. When the Yagnashwa (sacrificial horse) reached the forest both Lava and Kusha tied the horse and defeated Sri Rama’s army led by Shatrugna, one of Rama’s brothers.
On learning about the incident, Valmiki rushes to the war zone and enlightens Shatrugna and the army about Lava and Kusha. Later, the trio — Sita, Lava and Kusha — are united with Lord Rama.
