Mohasin Khan from Dharwad will present a Sitar Recital under the auspices of Pandit Taranath Foundation on Sept.9 at M.L Krishnaswami’s residence ‘MEENAKSHI’, #12/A, First Main Road, 4th Stage, T.K Layout, near Kamakshi Hospital, at 10.15 am.
Mohasin Khan, a prodigious talent, is one of the finest musicians of our country. He is the 7th generation sitarist in the illustrious family of the Indore Beenkar Gharana. He was initiated into the art of playing Sitar by his grandfather, late Ustad Abdul Karim Khan. He later continued his lessons from his father Ustad Hameed Khan.
Mohasin Khan has a rare privilege of becoming an ‘A’ Grade artist of Akashvani and Doordarshan, at the age of 21. He has also featured in National programme of Music. He has performed in major cities like Hampi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Nagpur and Bengaluru. He has enthralled audiences at prestigious festivals in Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, France, Croatia, Netherlands, Nepal and Russia.
Mohasin is a gold medallist in B.Music and has obtained his M.A in Music from Dharwad University. He has won many awards to his credit. At present he is teaching in Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya, Dharwad and also is a guest faculty in Karnatak University.
Mohasin will be accompanied on tabla by Rajendra Nakod, one of the most sought after tabla players in Karnataka. He has accompanied leading artistes like Pandit Rajeev Taranath, Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, Kadri Gopinath, Pravin Godkhindi, Sangeetha Katti, Rajendra Prasanna to name a few.
