Six-day Faculty Development Programme begins at St. Philomena’s College

Mysore/Mysuru: A six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Augmenting the Capacity Enhancement of Educators for Quality-Driven and Sustainable Academic Excellence in Higher Educational Institutions,” organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of St. Philomena’s College was inaugurated at the College auditorium in city on Jan. 2.

The FDP is designed for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate faculty members.

Dr. Prashant Vishwanath, Dean (Research) at JSS AHER and Professor of Biochemistry at JSS Medical College, Mysuru, delivered a thought-provoking inaugural address, emphasising the critical need for continuous capacity building in modern pedagogy.

The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph, Rector, in the presence of Principal Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha, Administrator Rev. Fr. Gnana Pragasam, Rev. Fr. S. David Sagayaraj, Vice-Principal Ronald Prakash Cutinha, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Physics A. Thomas Gunaseelan, and IQAC Coordinator and PG Coordinator Dr. C.A. Noor Mubasheer.

The first technical session was led by former Head of the Network Project at CEDT, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and Visiting Professor at IIM Bengaluru and Indore Dr. Ashok Rao.

He delivered a talk on “Indian Knowledge System (IKS),” exploring how traditional wisdom can be integrated into contemporary higher education to foster sustainable academic growth.

The FDP is coordinated by IQAC Co-Coordinator Dr. V. Deepa and convened by IQAC Coordinator A. Thomas Gunaseelan.
