Mysuru: The Global Alumni Meet-2017 of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) was held at the institute premises recently.
The event, organised by SJCE Alumni Association, included a panel discussion on ‘Role of Alumni Association towards improving its Alma Matter’ in the morning and felicitation to the institute’s alumni for having made it big in their respective fields of work and rewarding of scholarships to students in need in the evening programme.
Prof. M.H. Dhananjaya, Advisor (TED), JSS Mahavidyapeetha, speaking at the event, recalled his earlier days as employee of the institution and said several veterans had been instrumental in building the campus of SJCE to being what it is today, and felt fortunate for having been associated with it.
Dr B.G. Sangameshwara, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Science and Technology University, released the book ‘Campus to Corporate’ written by Naveen Chandra and spoke about the career growth and campus placements options at renowned companies available for the students of the institute.
SJCE Alumni Association Vice-President D. Sudhanva welcomed the gathering and said that the alumni meet is an occasion to connect with older students to bring back memories and bond with each other for mutual benefits and influences.
Several students have graduated out of the institute, established over five decades ago and the college has an active alumni association catering to the interaction of alumni with the institution. The association organises its alumni meet, bringing together, the old students of the institute every year, he said.
SJCE Principal Dr. T.N. Nagabhushan, who also spoke on the occasion elaborated on the establishment, growth and achievements of SJCE as an institute and the achievements of its students at national and international platforms.
Eight former students of SJCE were felicitated that included President and CTO of Fours Health (P) Ltd. Dr. Syam Vasudev Rao, Accenture India MD Niranjan Babu, Scientist at A*, Singapore Dr. K.N. Bhanuprakash, Director of Kalisu Foundation Nikhilesh, Founder of The Hobby Place, Savitha Ranga and actors from the Kannada film industry Rishi, Roshni Prakash and Shruthi Nandeesh.
Also, College students V. Varshad and Madhumitha were rewarded scholarships by JSS S&TU’s Dr. K. Lokesh and best project award was given away to final year students of Information Science and Engineering.
Alumni Association Secretary M.D. Harinath, Co-ordinator Dr. B.S. Harish and others were present. About 200 alumni participated in the event.
