Mysuru: The alumni of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysuru, had organised a ‘Global Alumni Meet’ recently at San Jose, USA.
The programme was the first-of-its-kind in the history of SJCE Alumni Association. It was a memorable stage for the alumni who had graduated from this institution since 1968. This platform will be acting as a mentor for the upcoming students of SJCE and JSS Science & Technology University (JSS STU).
JSS STU Vice-Chancellor Prof. B.G. Sangameshwara, in his presidential address, elaborated the progress made by SJCE to achieve a University status. He invited the alumni to do mentoring, to offer internships, share experience with the students, establish start-ups in India and in particular at SJCE campus.
Prof. T.N. Nagabhushan, Principal, SJCE, apprised on various activities like GIAN, NAIN, Academic progress and other effective teaching-learning process followed at the College.
Anirudh, 2013 Computer Science batch, spoke about mentoring and how it can be done using open source platforms. Kaushik recommended creating a portal like OSUM (Open Source University Meeting). Krishna Kanth assured to create a SJCE Alumni San Jose Chapter and to have regular meetings in Bay Area.
Mahesh Nagrajiaha, President, SJCE Alumni Association, welcomed. Dr. B.S. Harish, Coordinator, SJCE Alumni Association, proposed a vote of thanks. Nearly 110 alumni participated in the event.
Interestingly, there were 45 entrepreneurs among the alumni group and all are running big businesses at Bay Area of USA, according to a press release from the Co-ordinator of Global Alumni Meet, San Jose, USA.
