Sleeping labourer killed as parked lorry moves in reverse direction

Mysuru: A labourer, who was sleeping in a shed, was killed on the spot when the stationary lorry moved in the reverse direction on a slope and plunged into the shed at the construction site on Chamundi Hill on Friday.

The deceased labourer has been identified as Prakash Sarkar (34), a native of West Bengal, who was working at the multi-level parking complex coming up on Chamundi Hill.

On Friday afternoon, Nagendra, the driver of the concrete mixing lorry (KA-01 AH-4104) belonging to KBR Infratech Ltd., a Bengaluru-based construction company, had parked the lorry filled with concrete mixture on the slope, while Prakash Sarkar went to the shed for a nap.

But suddenly, the stationary lorry moved in the reverse direction and plunged into the shed in which Prakash was sleeping, killing him on the spot.

A case has been registered at Siddarthanagar Traffic Police Station in this regard.
