Mysore/Mysuru: The city witnessed a slew of protests this morning as many organisations staged demonstrations at various venues for different reasons.
Federation of UoM students’ Association
Federation of University of Mysore (UoM) Student Association staged a protest in front of the Clock Tower in Manasagangothri campus seeking admissions to the new research hostel, fee concessions for post-graduate and research students and to postpone the exams scheduled on June 13 in view of Legislative Council polls from South Graduates Constituency.
Karnataka State Research Association President S. Maridevaiah, speaking to SOM said that UoM Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. A.P. Jnana Prakash and Registrar (Administration) R. Shivappa visited the spot and assured to fulfil their demands.
UoM Research Scholar Association President Shashikumar, Dalit Students’ Federation President Karuna and others were present.
Mysore Bar Association
Condemning MP Pratap Simha of insulting advocates, Mysore Bar Association members staged a protest in front of Gandhiji’s bust opposite City Court Complex in city.
Members of Mysore Bar Association has written to the State and Central Governments seeking legal action against the MP for his alleged remarks that have hurt the legal fraternity during a verbal attack against former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.
Mysore Bar Association President Mahadevaswamy speaking to press persons said that the MP has insulted the whole lawyer community. “We have passed a resolution to condemn Pratap Simha and have decided not to support him in any of his legal matters. Pratap Simha must apologise immediately or else we have decided to file a private complaint against him,” he informed.
Bar Association Vice-President Putta Siddegowda, Secretary Umesh, Treasurer Mahadevaswamy, Woman Secretary Bhagyamma, Advocates N. Puneeth, Kavitha Kale and others were present.
In another demonstration, members of Akhila Karnataka Siddaramaiahnavara Abhimanigala Brigade staged a protest in front of Gandhiji’s bust opposite to City Court Complex condemning MP Pratap Simha’s remarks against former CM Siddharamaiah, who had served as a lawyer at Mysuru in the past.
Brigade State President Hinkal Uday, Vice-President Mahadevu, General Secretary Kadanahalli Swamy Gowda and others were present.
RSS supporters
RSS supporters from city staged a ‘Shorts parcel campaign’ at the Central Post Office in Nehru Circle. The supporters sent shorts through parcel to KPCC Office in Bengaluru to be delivered to former CM Siddharamaiah and President of the State Youth Congress Mohammed Nalapad.
