Mysore/Mysuru: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Mysuru, had organised Smrithi Sabha on Oct. 25 to pay tributes to two senior monks who drowned in River Cauvery near Mahadevapura on Oct. 16.
The deceased missionaries — Rasika Shekar Das (43) and Gunarnava Das (37) — accompanied by three more colleagues from ISKCON Mysuru were on a service-related trip to the Centre’s organic farm — Hare Krishna Nature Farm. They were drowned while taking a dip in River Cauvery. Their bodies were fished out with the help of Fire and Emergency Services and Police personnel.
As per the Gaudiya Vaishnava procedure, a day-long Smrithi Sabha was organised at Sri Dhama Hall at ISKCON in Jayanagar here. The ceremony included bhajans and Sankirtana. Many invitees recalled their fond memories and inspiration received during their association with the late missionaries. H.G. Madhu Pandit Dasa, President of ISKCON, Bengaluru and other dignitaries from Mysuru were present.
Both the missionaries were holding responsible positions in ISKCON Temple in city and had been serving the Hare Krishna Movement for the period of 18 and 16 years respectively. They were highly respected and dearly loved by their colleagues, temple congregation, donors and supporters of the temple. Over the years, they had contributed immensely towards the growth of the Movement in Mysuru.
