Mysore/Mysuru: Building construction has undergone a sea change, thanks to advancement in the field of building technology, said M. Mohan, National President, Builders’ Association of India (BAI).
He was speaking after inaugurating a two-day National Seminar on ‘Smart Construction with BIM & GIS’ organised jointly by BAI, Mysore Centre and Mysore Builders’ Charitable Trust (MBCT) here on Friday.
Mohan said Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process supported by various tools, technologies and contracts involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Many people use modern materials and other things to construct buildings without wasting time, materials and manpower. Of late, a lot of software was available in construction and design. Contractors and others who are involved in construction would take the help of technology to decide on materials, suppliers, quality and quantity and maintenance.
He thanked BAI Mysuru for systematically organising the seminar amidst COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to hold such seminars in future for the benefit of contractors and architects.
More than 180 persons including staff from Government Departments and students of Engineering Colleges participated. BIM Association President Dr. Amarnath, BAI State Chairman U.M. Gurushanthappa, BAI Mysuru Chairman M. Ratnaraj, Hon. Secretary Nagaraj V. Bairy and BuildTech-2020 Chairman K.U. Ganapathi and Honorary Secretary V. Gurudutt were present.
