Mysore/Mysuru: A song, composed on COVID-19 pandemic theme, has become a hit in the social media.
Dr. Vijayalakshmi Manapura, Associate Professor, Department of Folklore, Maharaja’s College, University of Mysore, has penned and presented a song in Kannada in folk style titled “Corona Abhiyana” about the second wave of pandemic.
The song propagates the importance of getting used to staying indoors to avoid spreading the mutant waves of the epidemic infecting the people of our country. It also conveys the message that no one must forget to wear mask, wash hands frequently, maintain social distance, follow Government guidelines and accept the recommendations of doctors.
The song also explains the importance of getting tested for pandemic and getting vaccination. It tells “do not perform rituals to remove germs, do not perform blind acts.” The song narrates that all of us Indians have to unitedly remove the stumbling block of this Corona effect. The COVID-19 song in Tamil titled “Corona Yerimalai” (“Corona Volcano”) sung by P. Praneel, a sixth standard student of St. Joseph’s Central School, Mysuru, has also become a hit in the social media.
He is son of Premkumar P. Wellington, who works in All India Radio, Mysuru and Dr. Vijayalakshmi Manapura.
It may be recalled that Dr. Vijayalakshmi’s song ‘Corona Bandaite Jopaana’ during the first wave of the pandemic too had received good response from the netizens.
