Sorry state of heritage buildings

Sir,

The news item titled “Fund crunch hits restoration of Saraswathipuram Fire Station” is an indication of the sorry state of affairs as far Mysuru city development is concerned (refer SOM dated Sept.3).

Four years back this heritage building collapsed due to lack of proper maintenance but the authorities are sleeping over to decide whether to repair/restore this building leaving this as an eyesore in this beautiful part of the heritage city.

We boast, the Chief Minister is from Mysuru and he will do wonders for improving this royal city. Even the District In-charge Minister has not bothered to look into it.

This is not the only case. Other heritage structures like Devaraja Market and Lansdowne Building are also neglected. The much-publicised Film City near Nanjangud is a dream yet to come true and the politicians, who claim so much about their contribution,  are in slumber.

Politicians have the knack of fooling the voters by ASSURING moon in their palm. Every political party that comes to power in Karnataka, thinks only about Bengaluru, though the capital city has reached a saturation point as far as infrastructure and civic amenities are concerned.

How long we have to wait? People of Mysuru, prominent public figures and leaders of political parties need to awaken our leaders to act early.
