Mysore/Mysuru: An enthralling musical event marked the 12th anniversary of ‘Natya Sangeethalaya Research Institute,’ a Dance and Music School of the city recently.
The musical event began with Purandaradasa’s ‘Jayajaanakikanta’ presentation, followed by ‘Bandanene Ranga Bandanene’, ‘Krishnamurthy Kanna Munde’ and ‘Odi Barayya.’
This was followed by Vijayadasa’s ‘Paahi Paahi Madanagopala’ and ‘Srirama Jayarama.’
The event was directed by Vid. K. Guruprasad. Jayaram Vittal, Doordarshan artiste Vid. Ravishankar (keyboard) and Vid. Indu Shekhar (tabla) and other artistes took part.
Music Scholar C.N. Shyamala, noted dancer Prof. Ramamurthy and retired State Bank of India Manager Sathyanarayan Murthy were felicitated on the occasion.
Speaking after being felicitated, Shyamala said that the role of the ‘Guru’ was key for artistes to make a mark.
Prof. Ramamurthy, in his address, highlighted the role of Guruprasad in making ordinary children talented singers and musicians.
Sathynarayana Murthy lauded the role of Guruprasad in the scintillating performance of the ‘Natya Sangeethalaya’ students.
The programme was followed by a dance performance by V. Abhinaya and R. Mrinalini of Bengaluru and a Kathak presentation by Dr. Sunil Rajashekar.
