Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the State Government to provide them with Corona Relief Package as given to others with financial issues due to outbreak of COVID-19 and ensuing lockdown, about 30 members of Mysuru City (District) Electrical Lightings and Sound System Owners Association staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office here this morning.
The protesters said that following lockdown from March, no cultural programmes, public functions, festivals and other such programmes were held which had resulted in no business to them, pushing them into debts to take care of their families and employees.
They said that there were about 300 sound and lighting shops and nearly 2,000 families were dependent on this business for a living.
The protesters demanded that a COVID relief package be announced to them and also opportunity be given to them during Government functions and during Dasara so that they could sustain financially.
They later submitted a memorandum to the DC through Deputy Tahsildar Borappa at the DC’s Office. Association President M. Jayashankar Swamy, General Secretary Y.S. Nagesh Pratap and others were present.
