South Zone Inter-University Cricket (Men) Tournament: Jain University, UoM earn seeding

The Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore (UoM), will be conducting the South Zone Inter-University cricket (men) 2019-20 tournament in Mysuru from Nov.28 to Dec.11 at different grounds in city.

Fixtures were drawn recently and last year’s champion Jain University, Bengaluru and runner-up UoM team have been seeded directly to quarter-finals.

There are totally 107 University teams which will be taking part in the tournament. The University teams have been divided into four Pools — A, B C and D. Hosts University of Mysore is the top-seed in Pool ‘A’ and Jain University, Bengaluru, is the bottom seed in Group ‘D’. JNTU, Hyderabad and Hindustan University, Chennai, will directly play in the pre-quarterfinals. The matches will be played on a knock-out basis and will be of 30 overs a side upto the quarter-finals. From the quarter-final onwards the matches will be of 45 overs a side.

Matches will be played at SDNR Wadiyar Grounds, JSS-SJCE Grounds, Maharaja’s College Grounds, Manasagangothri Grounds, JSS Dental College Grounds, Vidya Vikas College Grounds and MIT College Grounds, according to a press release from Dr. P. Krishniah, In-charge Director, Department of Physical Education, UoM.
