South Zone Inter-University Women’s Hockey 2019-20: Mysore University emerges champs

The women's hockey team of University of Mysore and its coach Ashok Thippasundar receiving the winner's trophy in the South Zone Inter-University Women's Hockey Tournament for Women 2019-20 held at the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai, on Tuesday.

The women’s hockey team of University of Mysore (UoM) won the South Zone Inter-University Women’s Hockey Tournament 2019-20 held at the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai, on Tuesday by beating Mangalore University 1-0 in their final match.

UoM will be taking part in the All India Inter-University Women’s Hockey Championships 2019-20 to be held at Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Chennai, from Jan. 2 to Jan. 5.

In the matches played in the South Zone Inter-University Tournament, UoM maintained a clean slate by winning all their matches and clinched the title.

In the final, they beat Mangalore by 1-0. In the previous game, they beat Sri Krishnadevaraya University 8-0 to progress further.

In the quarter-finals, UoM beat Anna University 8-1 and in the pre-quarter-finals beat Mahatma Gandhi University,

Kottayam. In the second round, UoM beat Periyar University 4-0 and in the first round, beat Sri Venkateshwara                                                          University 11-0.
