Sparrow Conservation Day on Mar. 17

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of World Sparrow Day, observed annually on Mar. 20, People For Animals (PFA) and sparrow conservationist Kokila Ramesh Jain are jointly organising a Sparrow Conservation Day on Sunday (Mar. 17) at PFA premises in Bogadi.

Participants can gain insight into the world of sparrows with informative video clips highlighting their conservation challenges and their protection. They can experience a sparrow-themed board game, offering a playful yet educational approach to raising awareness.

Participants can explore a diverse range of birdhouses designed to attract sparrows to their backyard, providing them with safe habitat and take a look at photos of sparrows with captivating posters and a photo booth capturing memorable sparrow-themed moments.

The event will showcase how to create eco-friendly feeders for sparrows, ensuring a sustainable food source. They can participate in tree planting activities to support sparrow habitats and witness inauguration of bird water feeder and birdbath.

There will be competitions for children aged between 8 and 18 where they can decorate and paint a sparrow house to create a functional and beautiful home for these feathered friends. They can also compose poems about sparrows in English, Hindi, or Kannada.

All participants will receive certificates from PFA. Former Deputy Mayor Dr. Roopa Yogesh will be the chief guest along with avid birdwatchers Vijayalakshmi and Shylajesh. Participants have to report at 8 am, while visitors can join at 10 am. For more information, contact Mob: 98456-54429.
