Mysore/Mysuru: Co-operation and District Minister S.T. Somashekar has said Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri has responded positively to putting the portrait of Chamaraja Wadiyar X and Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.
Talking to reporters here yesterday, he said the Speaker had been briefed about the contributions of Wadiyars to Mysuru in general and the State in particular. Kageri had shown positive response to his demand of putting the portraits of two rulers of Wadiyar dynasty, he added.
Baseless allegations
The Minister said Opposition Leader in the State Legislative Assembly Siddharamaiah was making false and baseless charges against Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa unable to digest the slew of developments taking place in the State. “Which politician is not on bail? Some may be due to personal reasons and it should not be linked to administration. Siddharamaiah new well about it,” he added.
‘Dakota’ Opposition
Brushing aside Opposition party’s allegation that nothing had been done after the BJP came to power in the State, Somashekar said duty of the Opposition was to find fault in Government in power and not to praise it. In fact, the Opposition was ‘dakota’ and not discharging its duty. The Opposition leaders were not touring the State. Though the Government pays for their Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance but still they were resting at home.
“We are capable of answering to every allegation of Opposition party leader and members. Our CM has spoken in the Assembly for one-and-a-half-hours listing achievements of the Government. It is wrong to say that Yediyurappa has been singled out in party. Development works had taken a beating during COVID-19 pandemic but now it is back on track”, he added.
