Mysuru: City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao has said that this year for Dasara procession, special barricades used during rock shows to control the crowd will be used.
Speaking to Star of Mysore here yesterday, he said that last year during Dasara procession, the crowd had pushed the barricades on Raja Marga and in the Palace premises and walked across, thus disrupting the procession. There were many complaints in this regard.
In a few places, the crowd had become unruly as they kept pushing and pulling, which was all captured by the CCTV cameras. In order to curb such incidents this time, we are getting special barricades from Bengaluru, he said.
The law and order barricades used to control the youth that gather in large numbers for rock shows will be placed in front of the North Gate of the Palace, KR Circle, Ayurveda Circle, Old RMC Circle and Highway Circle, said Dr. A.S. Rao.
Along with this double barricades and meshed ones will be used in the Palace premises and along the Jumboo Savari route to control the surging crowd, he added.
Tight Police security: There will be tight Police security for the 2017 Dasara celebrations. Nearly 3,500 Police personnel from different districts across the State will be deployed in two stages, said the Police Commissioner.
On Sept. 20, 2,500 personnel and on Sept. 27 another 1,000 will arrive for bandobust duty. All security arrangements are already in place and if there are a few hiccups then even that will be taken care of, Dr. Subrahmanyeswara said.
