Mysuru: JSS Urban Haat, Mysuru, will be conducting a special handloom mela ‘Samskruthi – 2017’ at its premises on Ring Road in Hebbal from Dec. 29 (today) to Jan. 14.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa at 4 pm today.
A variety of sarees including Kanchivaram silk, Molakalmuru, Bengali Cotton, Maheshwari from Madhya Pradesh, Sambalpuri from Odisha, Gadwal Silk, Patola Silk from Gujarat will be on display.
Weavers from 17 States including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh are expected to take part in the expo. Speaking to press persons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, JSS Urban Haat Director Shivananjaswamy said that a rebate of 20 percent has been offered on all purchase at the exhibition and added that the expo was organised to encourage those involved in handloom production and to encourage people to buy and use handloom products.
The organisers have erected more than 50 stalls for the vendors to display their products at the mela which will be open from 10 am to 9 pm every day.
