Mysuru: Marking the 128th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, SC/ST Special Unit of University of Mysore (UoM) and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre had organised a special lecture on “Ambedkar’s thoughts and responsibility of researchers” at Rani Bahadur auditorium in Manasagangotri here this morning.
Inaugurating the programme, writer Prof. G.S. Jayadeva opined that Ambedkar’s thoughts were full of clarity and inspiring for all. He said that inequality is a social evil for which Ambedkar always fought.
He wondered the idea behind PM Narendra Modi washing the feet of a civic worker which could be a publicity gimmick or meaningful. He further said that Ambedkar had an emotional contact with Dalits which was true from the heart.
Kannada Professor of Bangalore University Prof. Rajappa Dalavai delivered the special lecture.
UoM Registrar Prof. Lingaraj Gandhi presided. Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. K.M. Mahadevan was the chief guest.
SC/ST Unit Dy. Registrar Dr. S. Mahadevamurthy, Centre Co-ordinator Dr. S. Narendrakumar and others were present.
