Special students train in archery

Tiger Adventure Foundation (TAF), in association with The Mountain Goat, celebrated the World Disabled Day recently by conducting a archery programme for the speech and hearing impaired students of Sai Ranga Vidya Samsthe, Shivarathreeshwara Nagar, Bannimantap, Mysuru. About 46 special students participated in the archery training programme.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated every year on Dec.3 since 1992. But TAF celebrates it every year on Sunday post or prelude.

At the archery training programme, ardent adventure enthusiast PHF DSD Solanki gave an insight into the archery, about the same being the part of the epic period like Ramayana, Mahabharata and which is still being used in Nicobar Island.

At the competition that was held post training, among the 46 participants from 8th, 9th and 10th standards, T. Manjunath of Challakere, Chitradurga district, a 9th std. students at Sai Ranga Vidya Samsthe, scored 25 points and secured first place and K.H. Prasanna of K.R. Nagar, a 9th std. student of Sai Ranga Vidya Samsthe, secured second place by scoring 16 points.

The participants were guided by Charan Ashwath, Swaroop, Samhitha Danthi, Balaji Thirumalesh, C.T. Supreetha and Dr. S. Gururaj of TAF.

The programme was coordinated by Ravi Shankar and Shalini Gali of Mysuru.
