Mysuru: “The moment there are signs of breast cancer, it should not be ignored at any cost. Many hesitate to reveal the symptoms due to shyness and because of the stigma attached to it in the society, they refuse going to the doctors for treatment,” said Gynaecologist and Obstetrician Dr. Sonia Mandappa.
She was delivering a special lecture on breast cancer and creating awareness about it at Seshadripuram College, organised in association with Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Midtown here recently and dealt at length on the reasons for breast cancer, its symptoms and the precautions needed to be taken once it is seen.
Many fall victims because of the stigma and hesitation in taking treatment, regretted Dr. Mandappa and added that instead the breast cancer victims must immediately rush to the doctors for proper treatment.
“If the women take the treatment in the beginning itself then they can be cured,” she said.
Inner Wheel Mysore Midtown President Chaitra Mohan, Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Central President Soumya Dinesh, Seshadripuram College Principal K. Soumya Eerappa, Seshadripuram PU College Principal Archana N. Swamy and others were present during the programme.
