Specially-abled children and parents stage demonstration

Mysuru: More than 100 specially-abled and cerebral-palsied children, along with their parents, staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday, under the banner of Vikalachetanara Abhyudaya Vedike, seeking fulfilment of their demands.

The protesters demanded Rs. 5,000 monthly allowance to parents for taking care of specially-abled children; Bringing all therapies such as physiotherapy and speech therapy under one centre; Establishment of an exclusive therapy centre out of the three percent funds meant for specially-abled; Establishment of day care centres at all district and taluk headquarters; Distribution of free medicines and prosthetic equipment and free KSRTC bus pass for all specially-abled children and their parents among others.
Vedike President M. Prabhuswamy, office-bearers Manjula, Dileep Kumar, Azgar Pasha, Human Rights activist Prasanna and others took part in the demonstration.
