Spirit, tankers worth Rs. 1.37 crore seized

Mysuru: Excise Department personnel following directions from Joint Commissioner Dr. Y. Manjunath and Deputy Commissioner K.S. Muruli have seized four tankers carrying a total of one lakh litres of Extra Neutral Spirit (ENS) on the Ring Road, here yesterday.

According to Dr. Manjunath, the tankers were seized near Kaveri Silks, Arts and Crafts Emporium besides arresting the four drivers. 

The spirit and the four vehicles are worth about Rs. 1.37 crore, he said. 

The four tankers (KA-01-D-8623, KA-01-AC-4164, TN-88-B-2859 and KA-01-AE-0176) were proceeding on the route which was not permitted by the Excise Department following which the officials seized the tankers and arrested drivers N. Ganeshan, Selvarasan, Rajesh Kannan and Daan Bahadur Yadav. 

Mysuru Sub-Division Excise Deputy Superintendent M. Mahadeva, Excise Inspector N.T. Anand Kumar, have registered two separate cases.

Excise personnel Asharani, Vasantha, Nagaraju, Ramesh, Venugopal, Ravikumar and Puttaraju took part in the nabbing and seizing operation.
