Women’s Day brings behind the scene achievers to limelight: Mallige Veeresh

Mysore/Mysuru: Former Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) Chairperson Mallige Veeresh said that the International Women’s Day celebrations must not be restricted to just one day and instead celebrated throughout the year by bringing behind the scene achievers to limelight.

She was speaking after inaugurating International Women’s Day celebrations organised jointly by Sakhi Foundation and Surya Charitable Trust at Ramagovind Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar on Tuesday.

Observing that it is easier to identify the achievers in different fields, Mallige Veeresh said it is the responsibility of everyone to identify the hidden achievers and bring them to limelight.

Noting that many women have made a mark in politics too, she said that women voters play a key role in elections. She further said that this Women’s Day celebrations is totally different from that of this one.

Women achievers from different fields — Sudha Yoganna, Pushpa Iyengar, Vidushi Netra Nandan, Jayalakshmi Venkataramu and Sumathi Subramanya — were conferred ‘Spoorthi Sakhi’ award.

Former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, social worker K. Raghuram were present.
