Sports Meet for Forest personnel

Mysuru: The two-day Sports Meet for Forest personnel of Mysuru and Kodagu Circles began at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city yesterday. A total of 375 personnel are taking part from the two Circles. The Sports Meet was inaugurated by Conservator of Forest (Mysuru Circle) Dr. S.S. Ravishankar by releasing the balloons,  who also received the guard of honour.

Forest Department’s Watchers, Guards, DRFOs, RFOs, ACFs, DCFs and CFs and other staff members are taking part in the sports and displaying their athletic skills.

While track and field events, volleyball and kabaddi events are being held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, indoor games such as shuttle badminton, carom, chess, table tennis are being held at Police Academy and the cricket tournament for Forest personnel is being conducted at St. Philomena’s College Grounds. The sports events, which concludes this evening, are being held in three categories — 18-45 years, 45-53 years and 53-61 years.

Earlier, in the march-past, Salaga team won the first place, Vyaghra team stood second, and Kalinga and Garuda teams ended up third and fourth places respectively.

Conservator of Forest (Kodagu Circle) Sonal Vrishti, Bandipur Tiger Reserve Director S. Prabhakar, Nagarhole Tiger Reserve Director P.A. Seema, DCF (Mysuru Wildlife) Dr. P.B. Prabhu Gowda, DCF (Mysuru) K. Paramesh, DCFs (Hunsur) Fayaz & Naveen Kumar and others  were present.
