Mysore/Mysuru: The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of Dasara Home Garden competition conducted by the Horticulture Department for the second year in a row.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Shamala Prasanna of Lakshmipuram, an active participant in Dasara Home Garden competition every year and who has been redoing her garden for the 26th year in a row, said: “One positive outcome of the pandemic and lockdown is that I have been able to dedicate more time to pursue my favourite hobbies — gardening and music — to my full satisfaction.”
“Even though the competition is cancelled, I still want to share how my garden spreads some positivity and cheer among people. This year, I put my creativity into action, the result being some beautiful landscapes in bonsai and their display. I also attended innumerable online demonstrations by renowned national and international landscaping and bonsai masters, which has been a great learning experience,” she said hoping that normalcy will return soon and the grand flower show will be back next Dasara.
