Mysuru: The 25th week ‘Swachha Mysuru – Swastha Jeevana’ programme, which was launched by Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama for 40 weeks to bring public awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection, was held in Tilaknagar yesterday covering Tilaknagar, Highway Circle, C.V. Road and Telugu Reddy Choultry surroundings.
Swami Nityasthanandaji, Senior Monk, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, D. Madegowda, former MLC and Suhail Baig, local Corporator inaugurated the campaign.
About 250 volunteers went door-to-door requesting residents not to throw waste in public places and avoid using plastic bags. They were also requested to take care of their surroundings as they take care of their houses. Students conducted awareness rally in different streets of the locality amidst slogans.
The local residents too joined in the cleaning campaign. Brochures on ‘Swachha Mysuru – Swastha Jeevana’ was distributed to all the houses in the locality, according to a press release from Swami Atmajnanandaji, Adhyaksha, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama.
