Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be celebrating Sri Shyama Shastry’s Day tomorrow at Sri Vidyabharathi Prarthana Mandira, Sri Chandramoulishwara Temple premises, V.V. Mohalla here from 9.30 am.
Shyama Shastry is one among the Trinity of Karnatak classical music who was the contemporary of the other two, Tyagaraja and Muthuswamy Dikshitar. He was an ardent devotee of Mother Goddess Bangaru Kamakshi of Kancheepuram and believed to have written more than 300 compositions with vaggeya mudra, ‘Shyamakrishna’, out of which only around 70 are available.
Musicians will render Shyama Shastry’s compositions up to 12 noon followed by goshti gayana of his swarajatis.
