Mysuru: Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple at Vijayanagar 1st Stage founded by Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji, true to its tradition of treating everybody alike irrespective of caste, creed or religion, will distribute two lakh ladoos free on Jan.1 from 4 am to 12 noon to ring in the New Year.
Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji has been following the Christmas spirit, which is all about giving since 1994 when the temple began distributing 1,000 free ladoos. In the last four years, one lakh ladoos have been distributed as part of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
However, this year nearly 5,000 ladoos each weighing 1,500 grams and two lakh ladoos weighing 100 grams are getting ready. The ladoo-preparation process, by over 50 expert cooks, which began on Dec. 21 will be completed on Dec.31.
On Jan.1, under the guidance of Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji, special decorations and special ‘Tomale’ brought from ‘Srirangam’ will be used along with ‘Swarnapushpa’ to offer to Sriswami and ‘Saharsanama Archane’ to Utsavamoorty Sri Malayappanswamy, Padmavathy and Mahalakshmi Devi. There will also be ‘Ekadasha Prakarotsava’ and ‘ten quintal puliogare offering’ to all the devotees coming to the temple on Jan.1.
Ingredients for ladoos
50-quintal gram flour, 100-quintal sugar, 4,000-litre oil, 100-kg cashew, 100-kg dry grapes, 50-kg almond, 50-kg diamond sugar, 500-kg boora sugar, 10-kg pista, 20-kg cardamom, 20-kg jakai and japatre, 5-kg camphor and 50-kg clove will be used to prepare mouth-watering ladoos. The temple authorities have requested the people of Mysuru to participate in large numbers on New Year day.
