Bengaluru: Filling up the key posts vacancy in the State Legislature, the BJP top brass on Monday appointed former Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary as the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council. The post was vacant for the past eight months and this is the third time that Poojary is occupying the post. He had earlier served in the post when Siddaramaiah and H.D. Kumaraswamy were the Chief Ministers.
In other key appointments, Sunil Vallyapure of Kalaburagi district has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, while Hubballi-Dharwad (West) MLA Aravind Bellad has been named as the Deputy Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly, Kushtagi MLA Doddanagouda Patil as the Opposition Chief Whip in the Assembly and MLC N. Ravikumar as the Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.
N.Ravikumar, who belongs to the Backward Koli Samaja (Gangamatha), was earlier the BJP State General Secretary.
