Mysore/Mysuru: A Prathibha Puraskar programme was organised in city recently by Narasipur Doddamane Sujana Charitable Trust, Bengaluru, where students from Government Schools were felicitated for excelling in SSLC examinations. Also, the Block Education Office (North) honoured six schools that got good results and feted 56 retired teachers.
Sujana Trust is engaged in different welfare activities mainly to improve learning process in Government Schools — providing teaching aids, teachers training, conducting science experiments using mobile science lab, skill development and counselling.
MLA Tanveer Sait, who is also the former Primary and Secondary Education Minister, honoured the achievers and emphasised on the role of teachers in guiding and shaping the students.
Cash prizes and certificates were distributed to M. Dhanush Gowda, who secured 92.48 percent in SSLC from Government Bifurcated Maharaja PU College (High School Division), H. Yogitha, who secured 87.20 percent from Government High School, Medar Block, M. Khushi, who secured 87 marks in Science from Government Girls PU College, People’s Park, Nazarbad and H.R. Tribhuvan Tejaswi, who secured 81 marks in Science from Govt. Bifurcated Maharaja PU College (High School Division).
Also, the best performing Head Masters were honoured with cash prizes and appreciation letter. They are: B. Somashekar, Vice-Principal, Government Girls PU College (high school division), People’s Park where the school has registered 77 percent pass percentage in SSLC exam, Renukaswamy, Head Master, Government High School, Kailaspuram that has registered 76 percent pass percentage and T.J. Ananda, Head Master, Government High School, Vinayakanagar that has registered 75 percent pass percentage.
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Principal Mahadevappa and BEO North Uday Kumar were the guests of honour. Trustee N.S. Prakash, and other members of the Trust Shylaja, K. Ramesh Babu, Usha and N. Lakshmi were present.
