St. Mary’s School alumni honour retd. teachers of 1978-82 batch

Mysore/Mysuru: The Alumni Association of St. Mary’s School, St. Philomena’s Church premises, had organised a function at a hotel in city recently to honour four retired teachers of St. Mary’s School (1978-82 batch).

The retired teachers, who were felicitated are Shaheen Taj, Sherli Narona, Jaya Chinappa and M. Elizabeth.

MLA Tanveer Sait, an  alumnus of St. Mary’s School during 1978-1982 batch, was also felicitated.

Mementoes and shawls were presented to all the five members. Mohamed Ismail, Principal, Al Huda Public School, compered the programme while Ibrahim Sait, an alumnus of St. Mary’s School and Joint Secretary, Al Huda Public School, welcomed.

Later, the four teachers addressed their students, who have now crossed 50 years of age.

Alumni of the School Khasim Ali Khan came all the way from Behrain, Seren Patricks from Cochin (Kerala) and Iftekhar Ahmed of Ahad Builders from Bengaluru, to attend the felicitation programme.

A two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the departed alumni and teachers of St. Mary’s School.

Tanveer Sait, expressing his happiness to meet the old friends of 1978-1982 batch and classmates of St. Mary’s School, also requested the Association to organise such functions.

Sait recalled the teachers who shaped their lives and made them proud citizens.

Some alumni washed the feet of their teachers and sought their blessings, thus keeping the Guru-Shishya  tradition alive.
