This play was performed for a houseful auditorium in Mysuru too
Bengaluru: Shri Gajanana Yuvaka Mandala, Sheshagiri, Haveri, will be staging the play ‘Vali Vadhe’ at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall at 5.30 pm on May 19. Tickets are priced at Rs.249 and the proceedings of the show will be used to donate books to rural students.
The play, directed by M. Ganesh from Udupi (who was previously at Rangayana, Mysuru), was staged twice in Mysuru for a jam-packed auditorium during theatre festivals of Mysuru-based amateur theatre groups — ‘Rangavalli Rangasambhrama’ on Oct.7 and Niranthara Ranga Utsava on Dec.27 in 2017.
About the play: ‘Vali Vadhe’ is the story of two brothers, Vaali and Sugriva, as depicted in Kuvempu’s Jnanapith award-winning epic, Sri Ramayanadarshanam.
This play combines various art forms with some brilliant dance and music, engaging both children and adults alike.
Was Sugreeva wrong in his act of taking over the kingdom in Vali’s absence? Was Sugriva right in killing his brother Vali? Did Lord Rama really deliver justice by supporting Sugriva in this act?
