Mysuru: “Re-creating stories from their textbooks as a play on stage for children enhances their learning ability,” opined senior theatre personality Dr. H.K. Ramanath.
He was speaking after receiving the Minugu Nakshatra award along with artiste Jeevan Kumar Heggodu at a programme organised by Nakshatra Foundation and Mysuru Filmi Institute at Kiru Rangamandira, Kalamandira in city recently. Later, play Kavi Jangamaru was staged, which is based on selected works of Pampa, Ranna, Kumaravyasa as well as Vachanas as per the tenth standard textbook curriculum.
Lauding the efforts of Nakshatra Foundation and Mysuru Filmi Institute, he said that students would appreciate the Kannada epics like Sahasa Bhima Vijaya if such works are shown in a visual form and encouraged parents to engage their wards in a co-curricular activities.
Department of Women and Child Development Deputy Director K. Padma, Industrialist Dr. Dileep Kumar, founder of Vishwa Vachana Foundation Vachana Kumaraswamy, Founder of Nakshatra Foundation Satish Ponnachi and others were present.
