Start-Up Cell ‘SPROUTS’ inaugurated at SJCE

Mysuru: A Start-Up Cell ‘SPROUTS’ was inaugurated at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE)- Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) by Prof. K.S. Lokesh, Registrar, JSS Science and Technology University recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh said, “Start-Up is not a one-time process. It must be a continuous process of cycle where we need to develop people who can motivate youngsters and others to start their own companies.”

“Bengaluru has got the largest hub of Start-Ups; there are more than 1,200 plus Start-Ups in Bengaluru alone which is highest in Asia. The Start-Up Cell is a place to incubate ideas and making it matured enough. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is encouraging Start-Ups and we all need to make maximum use of it,” he added.

T.H. Udayashankara, Department of Environmental Engineering and CEO, SJCE STEP and Chief Coordinator of Start-Up Cell said “A Start-Up Cell is operational in the college with the intention of fostering entrepreneurship skills of the students. The Cell provides a platform for the students to pursue entrepreneurial activities and also provide assistance to prospective entrepreneurs. With the prime goal of developing responsible innovators out of engineers, the cell strives to support every aspiring entrepreneur on every single step. With active involvement of students, the cell promotes and invigorates the innovative culture in the campus.

Udayashankara also mentioned that the main objective of Start-Up Cell includes to develop a critical mass of motivated students and faculties with entrepreneurial orientation and skill; To build Infrastructure support for innovation and early stage enterprise development and enabling access to resource and facilities at Institute; To enhance in-house competency development to serve potential and early stage entrepreneurs and student innovators at the Institute and also to strengthen the inter-department and inter-institutional linkage, incubators and other ecosystem enablers at different levels.

Young entrepreneurs Nikhil, Abhishek and Brijesh shared their experiences on the occasion. T.N. Nagabhushana, Principal, SJCE called upon the students to make use of the facility.
