State Govt. Staff Sports Meet begins

Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration in association with Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) and the District Branch of State Government Employees Association has organised District-level Sports Meet of Karnataka State Government Employees Association (2020-21) at various venues in city.

MLA L. Nagendra inaugurated the event this morning at Chamundi Vihar Stadium. MLC K.T. Srikantegowda and Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri addressed the participants and wished them success. Former ZP President Parimala Shyam, Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd.Chairman N.V. Phaneesh, Karnataka State Khadi and Village Industries Board Chairman M.R. Krishnappa Gowda  and others were present.

Sports events including outdoor and indoor games such as hockey, football, volleyball, wrestling, kabaddi, basketball, badminton, table tennis, chess, athletics and cricket as well as cultural competitions including Hindustani music, light music, Karnatak music, folk songs, dance, instrumental music, plays will be held.

The two-day sports meet is being held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, University of Mysore Sports Grounds, Manasagangothri Indoor Stadium and Rotary West Auditorium. Over 1,500 Govt. employees are participating in the event which concludes tomorrow.

Hunsur Head Masters stage protest: After inauguration, when MLA Nagendra was about to leave the dais, chaotic scene was witnessed at the venue. Several Head Masters of Govt. High Schools from Hunsur taluk rushed towards the podium, staged protest and alleged that they have not received their salaries since November last. Karnataka State Government Employees Union (SGU) President C.S. Shadakshari intervened and pacified the protestors. 

Later, speaking to SOM, SGU General Secretary said, “We came to know about this issue now. We will speak to these HMs and solve their issue soon.” 

Gopinath, a Head Master at Katte Malalawadi Govt. School, alleged that many teachers in Hunsur taluk have not received their salaries from the last three months. “There is some                                                               confusion in the department related to Digital Signature Certificate. All those teachers who have been recently promoted as HMs are facing this problem. We would to urge the officials concerned to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” he requested.
